Spring & Autumn Courses. We will be very pleased to give you a quote for a course covering the dates of your choice, for as many days as suits you, outside the above dates. Just let us know what you would like!

ALMOST EVERYTHING is included in the price

The Course Fee covers almost everything, from your arrival at Oban Railway Station at the start of your Course, back to Oban at the end of your Course.

  • It includes our meeting you at Oban if you travel by Train, Coach or car (and at the Luing / Cuan Ferry if you come by minibus or car) and escorting you to our boats;;
  • and your boat transport out to, and back from, our group of private islands;
  • and all your programmed boat transport around the islands during your stay
  • and it includes the freedom, and our assistance, to roam freely and explore anywhere on our group of beautiful private Islands throughout your stay;
  • and it includes our expert care and attention, looking after you 24 hours per day throughout your stay;
  • and also all your delicious home-made meals while you are staying with us;
  • and all the very special Technical Instruction you will receive from us, and the free loan of around £1500- worth of specialised Outdoor Pursuits Equipment per person;
  • and it also includes the VAT , although youngsters who are able to pay their Course Fee through their Education Authority may not have to pay the VAT themselves, reducing each fee by about 15%

WHAT`S NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?

No Insurance is included in the Course Fee. We strongly recommend that you take out Travel and Accident Insurance Cover through Giles Insurance Brokers, tel. 01387 249444, e-mail anne-mariesim@gilesinsurance.co.uk. have dealt with Rua Fiola's insurances for many years, so will understand what you need. You can of course choose your own Insurance broker if you prefer.

Also not covered by the Course Fee is your travel to (and home from) your chosen meeting place (Oban, or the Luing Ferry) at the beginning and end of the Course.

Also not covered is your personal clothing, sleeping bag or bed linen, your towel, your pocket money, extra expenditure we might have to incur on your behalf e.g. telephone calls, and any contribution we may ask you to make towards the equipment you borrow FREE from us but you then damage or lose.

Unprogrammed or emergency travel costs, such as if you arrive late, or have to be taken to the doctor, or go home early, are not included in the fee. Boats are very expensive to run, so we must charge £75 per half-hour or part thereof for special boat journeys, and £1.50 per mile for vehicle journeys. These items may be covered by your Insurance.

Language Requirements. Course participants are given intensive Health and Safety instruction throughout the Course, particularly before their Survival Challenge. So for safety reasons, every youngster must have an understanding of Spoken English that is on par with the average 10-year-old Scottish schoolchild!

The prices quoted on these pages are those ruling at the time of publication. When you book, please check that we have not had to (or been able to) adjust them.

TRAVEL to the PICK-UP POINT

There are several ways by which you can travel to the places where we can meet you. You can come by train, or by coach, or by car, to Oban. Many children now fly to Glasgow Airport and then take a train, coach or taxi to Oban (about 80 miles). You can also come by car or minibus to the Luing Ferry Pier.

How to Book

To enquire about vacancies, or to make a Provisional Booking, please telephone Torquil and Margaret Johnson-Ferguson on 01387 372240, or e-mail rubhafiola@hotmail.com.We will be pleased to deal personaly with your queries, any day of the week between 11 a.m. and 9 p. m.

To Book, please fill in a hard copy of the Booking Form for each person who wants to come, and post it to us with a Booking Deposit of 20% of the Course Fee, made out to Wild Island Exploration Ltd. Please note that we do not take bookings over the internet, nor do we take credit card payments. Your Booking is not `Firm` until we have received, approved of, and acknowledged a signed Booking Form and the correct Deposit. Written, e-mailed or telephoned bookings without a completed Booking Form and/or the correct Deposit will be held for seven days only before being dropped.

Please remember that your 20% Booking Deposit, once banked by us, seals the contract between you and Wild Island Exploration Ltd. It is not refundable if you subsequently cancel your Booking, but may be covered by your Insurance.

WAITING LIST FOR FULL COURSES
Courses that are full are usually marked with an `X` in the last column on the printed Date Sheet. Even if the course you want is marked as full, please still send your completed Booking Form and Deposit Cheque. These will be kept `on ice`. As soon as a place becomes available, we will telephone you to see if you still want to come; but we must have your Form and Cheque to do this. If you have had to make other arrangements by then, and don`t want the place, you will get your own cheque back and all you have lost is the price of a stamp. Some people book more than a year ahead and then change their minds or fall ill before coming, so cancellations do sometimes occur.

THE ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES LICENSING REGULATIONS
Rua Fiola Island Exploration Centre is registered with the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority as licensed to provide specified activities under the following headings:- Kayaking, Improvised Rafting, Rock Climbing, Abseiling, Hill walking and Mountaineering. Licence details can be confirmed by calling the Licensing Authority on 029 2075 5715.
