|____|____|Small personal First Aid Kit, and High Factor Sun Barrier cream.
|____|____|Torch with fresh batteries. Spare batteries and spare bulb. (A head-torch is particularly useful.)
|____|____|Penknife (e.g. `Swiss Army`) for Expedition and Survival. (Please practise with it before coming!)
|____|____|Loud Whistle on a string, to hang around your neck, for emergencies.
|____|____|Mug, Bowl, Knife, Fork & Spoon, for the Expedition.

Optional items. These might be useful but are NOT vital.
|____|____|Camera with lots of films. (We don't sell film.) And Binoculars.
|____|____|A Watch.
|____|____|And some people like to bring their own small Survival Kit.
|____|____|Anti-midge Head-net. (NOT a mosquito net as the holes in the mesh are usually too big.)
|____|____|Your own Wetsuit, which might fit you better than ours.
|____|____|Musical Instrument, e.g. Flute or recorder or bagpipes.

Mobile Phones. Our watery environment, poor reception, no charging facilities and a high risk of loss means that phones create many problems and worries. Also they are very much at odds with our ethos of teaching self-reliance and independence. You may bring one for your travel, on the understanding please that you hand it in to the Office for safekeeping as soon as you arrive on Rua Fiola, and collect it on your departure morning.
